INTERNATIONAL SAILING WEEK 2025
The enthusiasm for sailing is renewed once again this year. Starting from April 25, 2025, the waters of the Livorno coast will come alive with a spectacular sailing event involving the Marina Cala de’ Medici tourist port and the Sailing Clubs of Castiglioncello, Quercianella, and Livorno.
This edition of the event will feature numerous racing categories, including seven official circuits recognized by the Italian Sailing Federation. The competing classes include: Optimist, Open Skiff, Wing Foil, Fly Junior, Fly Dutchman, Fireball, J24, Hansa 303/2.4 MR/Martin 16, J70, and Star. A special highlight is the Star class, with its long-standing tradition, for which the first Admiral Agostino Straulino Trophy has been established in honor of the renowned Italian Olympic medalist sailor.
The event will kick off with seven regattas during the weekend of April 20-21, followed by six more competitions the following weekend.
The sailing village will come to life at Porta a Mare, within the Historic Shipyards of Livorno, while the prestigious Medicean Pier will host the Boat Show—an interactive showcase featuring not only vintage sails of the Italian Navy but also other significant exhibits of sailing tradition.
As per tradition, the Naval Academy promotes the NAR, the competition between foreign navies racing aboard Tridente 16 boats. This year, the initiative will welcome numerous international training institutions, strengthening bonds and cooperation among navies.
Finally, in its seventh edition, the Yacht Club Livorno, in collaboration with UVAI, the Sailing Section of the Italian Navy, the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, and the Yacht Club Capri, has organized the RAN 630. This offshore regatta, taking place from April 27 to May 2, will challenge sailors along a 630-nautical-mile route from Livorno to the Costa Smeralda, around Capri, and back.
Numerous innovations will enrich the schedule of side events, strengthening the sports village, which, together with the Naval Academy, will become the heart of the Sailing Week. The goal is to spread the values and knowledge of this magnificent sport far beyond the city’s borders.
